Usawa Kwa Wote Party has nominated Governor Mwangi wa Iria as its Presidential Candidate for the August 9 election focusing on consolidating the Mt Kenya region votes.
The colourful ceremony attended by thousands of party members and aspirants from the 47 counties including those from Western Kenya marked the start of the campaign for Iria.
The Governor campaign will focus on the Household Economic Model concept designed to uplift the living standard of the people who have been neglected for decades by the successful governments.
In the past one year the second term Governor has been doing door to door strategy mobilizing members in the party.
In the acceptance of the nomination, Iria said he is the Mt Kenya region political supremo ready to provide leadership and secure the votes.
He faulted the policies being used in the country where the eight million households have been ignored despite having bright children with none recruited in the public service.
He also revealed that university students were going hungry as their parents could not afford money for food.
“ Instead we have the government providing soldiers and police officers with three meals a day while in training. The convicts are fed as the future of this country is ignored,”said Iria.
The narrative of this country will change if elected the president as the names of the eight million people will be in the government register to get assistance, added Iria.
On youth employment, he said those completing tertiary colleges should be equipped with tools to save them from being rendered irrelevant in the villages.
“ One they get skills that let them have access to tool kits as in the villages they could be engaged as farm hands despite their qualifications thus needing the tool kits,” said the governor.
