Murang’a UDA brigade promise on what to do within 100 days

Murang’a County United Democratic Alliance August 9 General Elections lineup aspirants are now promising to effect a Sh2.5 Economic Stimulus (ESP) Programme (ESP) in the first 100 days in office to lessen effects of both Covid-19 and resultant collapse of wealth in families.
 The lineup said the returns for the ESP is estimated to
Induce at least Sh7.5 billion in County Gross Domestic Product (CDP) in the first one year of their rule. 
 The promise has been given by the governor aspirant Irungu Kang’ata, Senator Joe Nyutu, Woman rep Betty Njeri, the seven parliament hopefuls and the 35 members of County assembly aspirants.
 “If we win, we will immediately after taking oath of office come together and pool the budget. The next government comes at a unique time when the National Treasury will be disbursing the 2022/23 budgetary allocations. The governor will immediately set aside Sh2 billion and all the others will ensure Sh0.5 billion from the various devolved funds,” said Mr Nyutu.
 Jubilee Party Candidates  allied to Raila Odinga , led by gubernatorial aspirant Jamleck Kamau, Senator Kembi Gitura and Woman Rep Evelyne Waithera  are also releasing their vision for the county in their meetings.
 As the Senator, Mr Nyutu said he will ensure that all the money will be disbursed to the identified areas and is utilised to the best interest of area economy.
 Speaking during a meeting with professionals  in Maragua constituency, Mr Nyutu revealed that the areas identified as key priority for funding within those first 100 days will be agriculture, health, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) as well as pending bills.
 He added that all hospitals will have medicines and closely monitored working staff to ensure the money spent on private healthcare providers is saved in families.
Kang’ata said there is an agreement with the team that “all transparent and straightforward pending bills will be cleared within the first 100 days so that the suppliers and contractors can get money to generate more job opportunities and also offset their wages arrears to their casuals.”
 He said that Public/Private Partnerships aimed to launch industrial cottages for area agribusiness will be signed and be made to commence within the first six months of their rule. 
 He said that all County government employees will have their salaries arrears offset “since currently all of them are two months in arrears.” 
Kang’ata said by doing so he will be helping the staff to be more productive and have morale to walk the extra mile in offering services.
 The Parliamentary hopefuls present were Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Edwin Mugo (Mathioya), Mary Wa Maua (Maragua), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Edwin Muriu (Gatanga) and Joseph Munyoro (Kigumo). 
“The MPs will link up with the governor’s kitty for roads to ensure the works to upgrade feeder roads commence within 100 days in office so that at least 5,000 youths will be earning at least Sh5,00 per day,” said Kang’ata.
 He said the County Government will also roll out free ECDE education and mandatory feeding programme for the pupils while in class so as to offload the budget of breakfast and lunch from the parents.
 “We will also roll out a free vocational training in all our village polytechnics so as to empower as many possible with skills to take them into the job market.
 He added that all SMEs will benefit from a County Biashara Fund whose interest rate will be zero “and we will liberalise hawking in designated areas where we will criminalise demolition or eviction of traders from their setups.”
  He said “we will ensure that traders operating where they are not required to will be relocated and not displaced.”
 Ms Njeri said her duty will be to ensure that the budgetary interventions do not discriminate on gender.
 “For instance, the new administration will come in just about when we will be preparing to usher in the September-November season. We will offer free maize seed and fertilisers to all our farmers. 
The Murang’a County Creameries will be revived to become a value addition and employment hub for our people hence translating to incomes in families. We will also enlist the help of our County assembly to bring down tax regimes,” she said.
 She said she will also chip in funds from her National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) to beef up the proposed ESP budget to benefit both gender’s marginalized groups. 
 She announced that corrupt employees in the county “regardless of whether they work for the national or County Government will have to get something else to do because we will be instilling discipline and respect for public funds in a version that will be clearly spelt out within the first two months of our taking charge.”
