The political rift has emerged with three individuals lodging a suit seeking registration of United Democratic Alliance and Farmers Party.
The trio are Ruth Khanali Ogolla, Chrispin Mayaka Bosire, Kevin Ndoho Macharia and Katiba Institute have instituted proceedings against the two political parties in Kenya Kwanza Coalition citing they were listed as members without their consent.
They claim the respondents, UDA, Farmers party, Jubilee Party registered members without their consent.
In the suit before Milimani court, the interested parties are IEBC and Data Protection Commission on Administrative Justice.
In the plaint, the petitioners through lawyer Lempaa Suyianka alleges that over a year the respondents have failed to act, denying the petitioners the full enjoyment of their rights to privacy.
They plead with the court to intervene compelling the respondents to remedy the illegal acts and have their names expunged from the registers of the political parties.
“The petitioners will continue to be highly prejudiced by being denied ther opportunity to fully enjoy and participate in the upcoming elections especially realizing article 38 of the constitution” read part of the plaint.
The farmers party chairman Irungu Nyakera has since appointed Chege Kamau to present the political party in the suit.
Nyakera said the party has realized the clandestine plan by the petitioners to derail the operations of the Kenya Kwanza government through an attempt to have the UDA, and Farmers Party de registered. The parties have been served with court papers in which they have been sued for alleged registration of members without the consent of the petitioners.
We are confident that the plans to derail the duly elected government will be thwarted by the court,” said Nyakera, a principal in Kenya Kwanza Coalition.
