A hundred thousand
people are listed to benefit from the Murang’a County
Government facilitated enhanced medical
cover.
On New Year Day,
Governor Irungu Kang’ata launched the Kang’ata Care programme that has enrolled
20, 000 vulnerable families in the county
designed to enjoy enhanced medical cover after receiving NHIF cards.
On January 1, the
county administration commenced the exercise of issuing the NHIF cards to the
beneficiaries in Murang’a township ward.
During the exercise 350
families from Murang’a ward got their cards which will enable them access full treatment
in any public health facility.
The programme will assist
the poor from the county to access medical care in public and private health
facilities.
The enhanced NHIF
medical cover, the governor said, allows the beneficiaries to fully access
medical care including optical and dental services.
“The 20, 000 households
were selected by a vetting committee with many of the families with five members.
The medical scheme came
into effect from January 1 and we urge those who have been issued with the
cards to consider visiting public hospitals since there will be no cost limit
unlike in private facilities,’
said the Governor. www.themountainjournal.co.ke
