Murang’a County Assembly
has approved the appointment committee on
appointment of Dr Newton Mwangi for the position of the County Secretary.
The committee chaired
by assembly speaker Johnson Mukuha vetted Dr Mwangi after he was nominated by Governor
Irungu Kang’ata.
In a motion by Deputy
Majority Leader Liz Muthoni Mbugua, the members supported the nomination of Dr Mwangi describing him as a person of
status with interest to develop his
motherland.
Kangari MCA Moses Mirira said the gesture by Mwangi to return home and assist
development of the county was credible based on retirement after years
in teaching.
“ During the campaign time,
Mwangi was a team player and during the vetting he demonstrated his character.’
Said Kangari MCA.
Ithanga MCA Ndunda Makau said appointment of Mwangi by the governor
demonstrates he was keen to guide the growth of Murang’a through the support of
the persons with interest.
“ This one of the most
experienced persons to have been
appointed by the governor who is aware
of himself thus ready to steer the
growth of Murang’a,” said Ndunda.
