Another six chief officers proposed by Governor Irungu Kang’ata have been approved by Murang’a County Assembly with instructions they must deliver.
The nominees, the assembly resolved, will be monitored effectively through the departmental committees based on the fact that they are young.
They approved Appollo Maina (Agriculture), Wanjohi Karoga(Education), Misheck Kipkorir( ICT), Journalist Leonard Guchu( Media& Communication), Maxwell Wambugu( Public Works), and Bridget Wairimu Irungu( Water).
During the debate, Kamau Munyua (Gaichanjiru) expressed his desire to t
he appointing authority that in future they consider nominating persons with disabilities to the positions.
“ Since the exercise kicked off the assembly has not deliberated on issues dealing with a nominee with special needs,” said Kamau calling on the nominees to be trained on accounting and management to assist in service delivery.
Agriculture Committee Chairperson Caroline Njoroge said Maina to take the agriculture position expressed interests to support programme to improve food security in the locality.
“The sector requires a person to be self-driven and provide advice when needed,” said Ms Njoroge, also Kigumo MCA.
