Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana has filed a notice to motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua a move that has increased political anxiety in Kenya Kwanza Government.

In the notice filed in the Senate, Mungatana alleges, Gachagua conducts himself in a manner that does not befit a Deputy President.

The censure comes amid reports of internal divisions within the ruling party, with Gachagua facing criticism from allies of President William Ruto.

On Sunday, the Deputy President speaking at PEFA church in Thika, urged President William Ruto to address divisions within the government, noting the importance of listening to public grievances.

“The Deputy President of Kenya, have marginalized sections of Kenyans; created and continues to heighten tension among different ethnic communities in Kenya; portrays the conduct of Hon. Rigathi Gachagua as being in contravention of the provisions of Article 75 of the Constitution; are against the national values and principles of governance espoused in Article 10(2) of the Constitution; and demean the high office of the Deputy President of the Republic,” read part of the notice.
