Hell broke loose in Kigumo after residents  broke into Gachocho police station and killed a murder suspect.

Irate residents overpowered the local police and broke into the cells and forced the suspect Richard Maina  out before they clobbered him to death  as they protested the brutal death of his brother Joseph Kibugi.

Details emerged that Kibugi and another brother who is still at large clobbered Maina to death on Tuesday night in full view of his wife Esther Wambui and children.

The  police fired in the air as the locals remained firm  and dared the police as they destroyed a police vehicle at the facility.

Some of the police officers were injured in the melee.

Before they raided the police station, the mob had blocked the busy Nyoka Nyoka road  as they demanded justice  for  the late Maina, whom they described as  respectable persons within Gachocho village.

Wambui said as they attacked her husband, used a jembe and crashed his head and raised the alarm before she was warned against facing similar consequences.

“ They hit me on the head with a rungu and warned me to remain silent as my children watched,” said  Wambui.

Kigumo sub county police commander Nixon Kiprono  said the police will issue a statement  concerning the incident.

“ The police will issue a statement later,” said Kiprono.
