Clergy: Politicians have abandoned small churches

Clergy sets to block politicians
from addressing the congregations in their churches in Murang’a, in efforts
to tame hate speeches.

Evangelical Churches Ministers led by Bishop  Gilbert Maina, said they have been forced to
take action  following the Sunday
incident where two lives were lost.

Speaking after the clergy held prayers outside
Kenol AIPCA church where chaos started, Maina and Marico Muchomba s asked the
government to arrest politicians perceived connected with the violence.

They said those who funded the chaos should be
arrested alongside the suspects they detectives are pursuing.

During the chaos Christopher Kariuki Muiga 22,
and Peter Mbothu 15, met their deaths in unclear circumstances.

Maina of Grace Presbyterian Church said the
leaders should give Kenyans a break  and
tone down the political temperatures.

“The clergy are under stern instructions that
if they sense an unfriendly atmosphere in their churches deny the politicians a
chance to address the congregations,” said Maina.
