Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) will establish agriculture and environmental
campus at Mareira agriculture training
centre.
Ina pact
with Murang’a County Government, the varsity will establish the campus on a 50
acres of land with the first bunch of 44 students.
Varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof Dickson Nyariki entered into a pact with Murang’a Governor
Mwangi wa Iria saying they have
benefited from assistance accorded by
Murang’a County Government in the past five years.
Iria said
the varsity has assisted in the growth of Murang’a town, with the traders
making Sh100 million in a month following businesses with students and members
of staff.
“The
county government will walk hand in hand with the university to ensure we give
the students the best training ground,” said the governor.
The first students
will use the facilities at the centre, before the varsity comes with its infrastructure
Last year,
the county government in a pact allowed varsity health sciences department to
use Murang’a Level Five Hospital for training its learners.
In the pact, the varsity will used all the health
facilities in Murang’a county.
