Claims of conflict of interest emerged  at Chuka Girls High School in Tharaka Nithi County as the school board of management called for the removal of the principal.

The board, a section of parents, indicates has been pursuing the removal of the principal from  the school alleging that she was unable to steer the institution to success.

On Friday, 25 parents marched to the education and TSC offices in Chuka town, where they lodged their complaints implicating the school’s Chief Principal Ms Joan Muchina on the declining standards of education and unstable school management.

After the meeting at the education offices,  a section of parents passed information to the students that the school would  be closed on Saturday morning.

But the majority of the parents were against the meeting which they described as an embarrassment to their children as they were interested in their success and the demonstrations would work for their downfall.

Ms Muchina said there has been a scheme to remove her from the position which is a calculated witch hunt initiated by certain players citing she was unable to provide leadership.

She said there  has been a fight on procurement  of goods which is a conflict of interest.

“I am ready to be investigated as I have a track record in all the schools that I have been heading,” she said.

She started at Moi Equator Girls in Nanyuki, Gaturi Girls in Kiharu, Murang’a, Mwaani Girls in Makueni all that reported success during her tenure.

Another parent who declined to be named said they have been receiving  calls demanding they turn out  in the meeting to ensure the principal  is transferred.

“ I suspect those advocating  for the transfer of the principal have interior  move outside the education programme,” said the parent.

She added that some of the protesters were not parents but persons who had been pushed to add up the number.

“The majority of the parents kept away  from the meeting as some made wild claims against  the principal, “ said the parent.
