Truphena Muthoni the Nyeri born environmentalist managed to hold a tree for 72 hours, a month after she missed a flight to Brazil to join other environmentalists.
In a televised event in Nyeri Governor’s office, Muthoni broke the Guinness Book record.

Muthoni hails from Ihwagi village in Mathira received rewards from all Kenyans of life and promised a trip to Dubai.
Githinji, a resident of Mathira said Muthoni made Nyeri county residents proud with standing heavy rain and morning cold.
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba rewarded Truphena with packets of sanitary towels made from banana fibers after she broke the record for hugging a tree for a consistent seventy-two hours.
