The coffee cooperative societies and estates fetched Sh 765 million after the sale of 12,296 bags of coffee at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).
The weekly earning is less than last week’s Sh 1.22 billion, after the auction of 13,786 bags.
The NCE report stated that 10 coffee brokers participated offering 3,905 bags of grade AA, 4,598 bags of AB and 997 bags of C, that earned cooperatives and estate farmers Sh 267.6 million, Sh 296.5 million and Sh61.8 million respectively.
Alliance Berries Limited led the pack marketing 3,227 bags for Sh 208.4 million, New KPCU 1,985 Bags (Sh120.9 million), Kipkelion 1,821 bags (Sh117.7 million), KCCE 1,353 bags (Sh78.8 million) among others.
The report outlines that Kirinyaga based Getuya factory achieved the highest price of Sh 60,852 for grade AA, followed by Gathugu factory Sh 59,685, Cherara Sh59,555.
“Mahiga Sh58,906, Kaganda Sh 58,517, Mukuyu UNI Sh 58,647 among others” achieved the best prices at the auction,” the NCE report added.
.In the provision of grade AA coffee, the report stated that Alliance Berries offered 1,331 bags, Kipkelion 750 bags, New KPCU 516 bags, Kirinyaga Slopes 390 bags, CEBBA 293 bags.
Other marketers were KCCE 243 bags, Kinya 157 bags, Minnesota 177 bags, United Eastern 65 bags, and Murang’a 116 bags.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said 15 dealers participated with Ibero Kenya leading with the purchasing 3,377 bags that netted Sh 214.9 million, Louis Dreyfus 2,523 bags ( Sh153.6 million), C.Dormans 1,919 bags ( Sh127.4 million), Taylor Winch 1,020 bags ( Sh65.3 million) among others.
“ We expect more quality coffee to be offered at the auction in the future to meet the demand of the buyers,” said Ms Ndung’u.
