Kang’ata commissions a Sh20 million physiotherapy centre

A modern physiotherapy and occupational therapy centre has been established at Kigumo Level Four Hospital targeting to support persons  with special needs.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata   said his administration is working towards revolutionizing health care services for patients with physical illnesses and disabilities.

 Kang’ata said the physiotherapy and the rehabilitative department are equipped adding that, 

 the  occupational therapy department  has modern  equipment to serve children and adults of both genders..

The rehabilitative department, the county government has equipped among others a static bicycle, multigym, treadmill, parallel bars, wheel bar.

Kang’ata said there is  cordial working relationship between  the executive and the County Assembly that facilitated allocating resources to procure various aids among them wheelchairs to the needy persons.

He lauded Kigumo MP Joseph Munyoro for the completion of Kigumo Hospital, a project which was started by his predecessor Wangari Mwaniki, through lobbying for more  resources  from the national government.

“ At the hospital, the county government partnered with the MP  to ensure the resources are available for the interest of the residents,” said Kang’ata.

 He added that the the presence medical wards in Kigumo hospital will decongest Maragua and Murang’a hospitals.

 In the county, he said, his administration inherited the Nyota Zetu education programme and facilitated it to ensure the students complete their secondary school education..

He said the national government programmes delay completion thus need for a speedy intervention to facilitate completion.

In Murang’a, the Sh1.3 billion sanitary landfill initiated during the retired of President Uhuru Kenyatta region remains incomplete.

 The landfill programme, he said, stalled but yet to be handed to the county government 

“ We leaders do a lot of disservice to our people after neglect of the public that were initiated by other leaders,” said Kang’ata.

Health committee chairman Boniface Mbau said the acquisition of the equipment for the persons with special needs was based on willingness from the Governor.

“The government and the assembly work hand in hand to support the improvement of the health services, designed to uplift living standard of Murang’a population,” said Mbau, also Muthithi MCA.

In matters pertaining development, the governor said, smart cities programme has been implemented in all the sub counties, opening business opportunities.

 The programmes under the county government are Uji  for ECDE, Kang’ata Care, Inua Mkulima, Maize programme among others.
