The coffee market hit Sh2 billion promoting to celebrations after coffee brokers presented 32,801 bags of the commodity at the market

According to the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) reports the sale is the first to have raised two billions in a day as in the previous market it fetched Sh1.6 billion from the sale of 28,971 bags of coffee.

In the market  coffee presented by Alliance Berries Limited, Kirinyaga Slopes and KCCE coffee brokers achieved higher prices.

 Karumandi factory achieved the highest price of Sh57,342 per bag of AA brokered by the Alliance Berries.

Others factories that achieved the best prices, for their AA grades  per bag, are Guama,Sh55,921, Gichuna Estate Sh 57,213, Kangocho Sh56,696, Karani Sh55,017, Kangunu Sh 53,855, Gatumbi Sh 54,630, Riakiberu Sh 53,726..

The reports stated that 11 coffee brokers participating in the market  presented 10, 116 bags of Grade AA and 15,505 bags of AA that attracted the buyers.

In the coffee  brokers category, the report further divulged that  Alliance Berries Sh893,413,929 for 15,131  bags of coffee, Kirinyaga Slopes Sh236,714,871 bags of coffee,New KPCU Sh 216,569,726 for 3,671 bags, KCCE  Sh213,110,164 for 3,782 bags,  CEBBL Sh 31,252,388 for  546 bags  among others.

The market,  the NCE report indicated that 17 local and international coffee buyers participated  as C-Dorman bought 6,576 bags for Sh 392,609,728, Ibero Kenya 5,799 bags ( Sh 326,061,876) , Sasini 5,794 bags (Sh 345,144,858),Louis Dreyfus5,466 bags(Sh  316,593,487) ,Taylor Winch 4,558 bags( Sh 262,279,638), Kenyacof 2,179 bags ( Sh 130,741,468) among others. 

The report further detailed that Global Mark Foods  and Almasi Coffee have been ranked as those who bought the least coffee of  two bags and nine bags respectively. Ends 

In the brokers performance, the report further divulged that  Alliance Berries Sh893,413,929 for 15,131  bags of coffee, Kirinyaga Slopes Sh236,714,871 for  4,101bags of coffee ,New KPCU Sh 216,569,726 for 3,671 bags, KCCE  Sh213,110,164 for 3,782 bags.

 Others were  CEBBL Sh 31,252,388 for  546 bags, Minnesota  Sh143. 3 million for 2,533 bags, Baringo Kawa  Sh 1.1 million  for 18 bags, Kipkelion  Sh 1,313  bags. Meru county  Sh 56.9  million for 993 bags, Mt Elgon Sh32 million  for 559 bags and United Eastern Sh8 million for 154 bags.

 NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said the resilience of the Kenyan coffee market despite external economic pressures.

 ā€œThis auction reinforces the strength of Kenya’s coffee sector. The demand for our high-quality beans remains strong, but we must continue improving quality and market access to ensure farmers receive the best value for their produce,ā€ she said.

She added that the prevailing impressive prices of the commodity were witnessed 15 years ago.

She emphasized the importance of transparency and direct market linkages in strengthening Kenya’s coffee trade. 

ā€œBy focusing on sustainable and value-driven trade practices, we can enhance farmer earnings and cement Kenya’s position as a global leader in specialty coffee,ā€ she added.
