After years of incurring the cost to seek treatment at Murang’a Level Five Hospital, Mukuyu dispensary is a relief.
The facility was established after it was converted from the social hall which had been used by the residents in Mukuyu market for decades, following a public participation designed to uplift the living standard of the community.
Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata said his administration was working on a programme to establish dispensaries in the wards , in efforts to decongest Murang’a Level Five Hospital and other health facilities.

During the launch of Mukuyu dispensary Governor Kang’ata said that the dispensary will serve residents at the Mukuyu market, Kongoni, Maragi, Mjini among other areas with close to 15,000 residents.
He said the establishment of the dispensary is an indication the community is involved in the development programmes, as before they flooded at the Murang’a Level Five Hospital.
Kang’ata added that his administration was working round the clock to fulfill the campaign pledge made to the electorate in health, agriculture, water among others.
“ My administration has built hundreds of ECDE centres across the sub counties, and constructed more medical wards to ease congestion at Murang’a Level Five Hospital,” said Kang’ata.
‘Lack of a dispensary has been a challenge in the locality. We thus flocked to the level five hospital for treatment,” said the governor accompanied by Murang’a Town MCA Charles Machigo.
The Governor said the programme initiated by his administration and have uplifted the living standard of the community included, maize farming, Murang’a youth Service which is an empowerment programme designed to support the youth in self employment and innovation.
“ We have the Kang’ata Care programme which is a game charger that has enlisted the elderly and persons suffering from chronic diseases, Inua Mkulima, Inua Masomo among others,” said the governor.
Machigo said the community development programme, the locals earmarked the renovation of the ECDE centre, and converting the social hall to a health facility.
He said with the improved ECDE centre, the young will have a conducive environment for learning and playing.
“In the past the facility was neglected but through the county government community project, the request by parents in Mukuyu has been fulfilled,” said the MCA.
