Turkana South MP John Ariko Namoit was arrested yesterday in Eldoret, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has claimed.
ODM in a statement alleged that officers from DCI arrested Ariko.
“DCI officers in Eldoret have this evening arrested Turkana South MP John Ariko, our National Vice Chairman, without any explanation. He is being held at the Central Police Station in Eldoret town,” the party said in a statement .
Later the lawmaker, was presented in Eldoret court alongside eight others charged with assaulting Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomurkai’s son who is a minor.
Eldoret Principal Magistrate Cherono Kesse ordered that the MP and his co accused be remanded until Monday pending a ruling on bond application.
0DM leadership has called on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to address the matter urgently.
