Four Kenya’s tea factories shine in sixth African tea convention

Kenyas’ four smallholder tea factories won recognition awards for producing the best innovative tea in the specialty tea class competition in Kigali, Rwanda.

 During the sixth African Tea Convention and Exhibition Ragati, Itumbe, Gitugi and Kagwe tea factories were recognised for production of quality tea and emerged the best in the competition.

KTDA Holding Enos Njeru among the top Kenyans  who attended the tea convention said it was a honour and pleasure that Kenya’s smallholder factories were recognised  for their innovation in the tea production.

Njeru said the the conference, dubbed “Harmony in the Cup; Promoting Tea for People and the Planet”, was held at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV), Rwanda. 

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our farmers, factory workers, and management teams in ensuring provision of high quality products to our esteemed customers. It also highlights Kenya’s continued leadership in the global tea industry,” said Njeru. 

Managing Director of EATTA Mr Omuga was among the key speakers in the forum that brought together the producers, processors, traders and buyers.

The Africa Tea Convention & Exhibition, a unique show experience to the public, brings together members of the tea trade from all over the world, manufacturers and support service providers within the entire value chain.
