Karatina University has been closed following students demonstrations in the Gitunduri area.
The university senate in a special meeting ordered the immediate closure and suspended the first Semester of 2024/2025 Academic Year activities following students demonstrations outside the University in Gitunduti and One Kilometer area.
“ This is therefore to announce the closure of the university with immediate effect with the students asked to leave the premise latest by 3pm,” read part of the notice.
The notice informs the students that the re-opening dates will be communicated in due course.
