Thirty-three kilometers of road prioritized in Mathioya  for grading

The Mountain JournalMathioya MP Dr Edwin Mugo is investing in upgrading rural access roads to enable the farmers to transport their produce after years of struggle.On Friday, there was a celebration in Chui village after the villagers witnessed the start of the road rehabilitation programme estimated to spend close to Sh250 million. The residents recounted the suffering they had gone through as Chui- Kanjahi road was impassible.Peter Mwangi a resident said the public vehicles stopped operating along the Chui-Gitugi and Chui-Kanjahi routes, due to their pathetic state.“We have suffered for a long and hope that the efforts by our MP Edwin Mugo will bear fruits,” said Mwangi. 

Mary Wambui a resident of Matuto says the expectant mothers have seen it all as they are forced to use boda boda to reach the nearest health facility for delivery.“ Imagine an expectant woman on top of a boda boda which is not a good thing. We appreciate efforts being made by the Mathioya MP to uplift the living standard of the locals,” said Wambui.  Mugo on his part said Mathioya has been allocated Sh250 million for upgrading of 33 kilometres road network. He said upon completion of the upgrading programme,  the suffering the locals go through will be a thing of the past.“ Am focusing on opening the landlocked areas including Chui village where Kerra will be working on the improvement of the road network,” said Mugo.Mugo said the transportation of milk has been affected due to poor roads.“ Transportation of farm produce to the market is key in my road improvement programme,” added Mugo.
