Coffee raised Sh883 million from the sale at the NCE

Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE)  was a hive of activities on Tuesday, as the online platform traded 20,821 bags of coffee, which brought a revenue of Sh883.3 million to the farmers.

The sale represented a decrease in earnings down from the Sh 1 billion of the previous week.

 In the sale, which attracted 22 dealers,  cooperatives, and estates allied to the Alliance Berries Limited made Sh 215.7 million from the sale of 4,950 bags of coffee,  with  Kirinyaga Slopes selling 4,219 bags generated Sh 205.8 million.

NKPCU delivered 3,549 bags earning the growers Sh12.5 million.

NCE Chief Executive Officer Risper Ndung’u in a report indicated in the auction Ibero Kenya bought  5,297 bags,  followed by Kenyacoff 4,478, C-Dormnans 3,902, and Sasini 1,747  bags.

 Ndung’u report divulged that for best grades, the dealers bought 3,849 bags of AA,8,963 bags of AB, and 3,796 bags.

“Other brokerage firms that delivered produce to the auction are Kinya 1974 bags, United Eastern 745 bags,  Kipkelion 1,777 bags,  Mt Elgon 944 bags,  KCCE  2,689 bags,” said the Chief Executive Officer.
