Operations
at the Murang’a Level Five Hospital have been digitized in efforts to stamp
out theft of drugs and money paid by the patients.

Governor
Irungu Kang’ata said revenue at the facility has shot at Sh400,000 per day up
from Sh80,000 after the payment system was automated.

 Speaking
during the launch of the digitalization programme, Kang’ata said, revenue
increased after sealing off the loopholes that were used by some
rogues’ to steal from the government.

“The
automation programme will be beneficial to the patients as details of their
ailment can be traced for a better follow up,” said the governor.

Other
health facilities will be connected with the digitalized programme to help
streamline operations.

During
the function, the governor accompanied by his Deputy Stephen Munania
distributed wheel chairs to the physically challenged persons among them
children.

He
said the physically challenged persons will be supported by his
administration while their children get enrolled in the bursary programme.

“Apart
from being enrolled in the education intervention programme, the physically
challenged person will also be enrolled in the Kang’ata Care/ NHIF
programme,” said the Governor.

On
upgrading of the health facilities, he said, new hospitals and dispensaries
will be constructed across to decongest Murang’a Level Five Hospital.

“Nyakianga
level four hospital in Mathioya is under construction and tens of
dispensaries in all the nine sub counties. Kenneth Matiba Level Five Hospital
will be constructed in the Delmonte land once talks are finalised,” said
Kang’ata.
