Mental health issues are causing untold suffering in Murang’a mostly due to the unending process of sharing of family properties.

In Kamahuha village in Murang’a South, a family is facing disturbances following an unending process in the sub division of their six acres of land.

A victim, Paul Maina Ndung’u said his family is living in fear after the succession process stopped seven months ago, over unexplainable reasons at Murang’a County Survey Office.

Ndung’u said  the eight family members are on his neck as administrator of inheritance  demanding  the completion of the sub division process for each to be allocated the title deed of his/ her portion.

“The process to subdivide the portion of land was consented by the High Court in Murang’a in 2019,  and proceeded to other procedures before the matter came to a grid halt at the county survey office,” said Ndung’u.

Gilbert Maina aka Maina wa baba, a community leader in Makuyu attributes increased mental health to undelivered justice to many of the families by the public servants.

Maina said it was pathetic that there are families suffering over the failure by a public office to deliver,   especially in matters pertaining to subdivision of properties.

“ We are making a humble appeal to Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata to conduct investigations  at the county land office,  focusing on helping the poor families facing challenges,” said Maina after he visited the facility  to explore how the residents were suffering in pursuit of services.

He described  the Murang’a Lands Registry as a den of high-level  corruption blocking families from transacting with their piece of land.
