Iria warns oil companies on hoarding of petrol, as he threatens to institute legal proceedings

Usawa Kwa Wote Party has threatened to sue the Energy Petroleum
Regulatory Authority over the escalating fuel shortage being experienced in the
country in the past one week.

The party led by Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria said it had
given an ultimatum to the government to resolve the issue within 48 hours or
institute legal proceedings on behalf of Kenyans.

“This a matter that requires to be addressed with urgency as
patients are dying in hospitals and ambulance services are grounded in counties,”
said the Governor.

The Usawa Kwa Wote Presidential candidate said the
ambulances and critical services across the country have been compromised by
the shortage of fuels and the situation should be returned to normal.

“Ambulance and critical care services across the country
have been brought to a grid halt with patients losing lives in hospitals. This
hoarding of fuel is unacceptable and extremely criminal, yet no action has been
taken,” said the second term governor.

He spoke as hundreds of motor cars and motorcycles are
grounded near petrol stations as the distributors of the commodity are engaging
the government in the release of the promised subsidy of Sh33 billion. The
subsidy was allocated by the government to cushion the oil companies from the
inflation of the dollar.
