Residents honored by the government for their outstanding performance in the service delivery

Nine residents of Murang’a have been honored for their dedication to serve the country over the years.

 They were among the 220 Kenyans  who were honored by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Mashujaa Celebration in Wang’uru station, Kirinyaga  county.

They were former Nominated MCA Lucy Wangechi Njoroge, Charles Mbate Githua, Librarian Rosemary Wairimu Gitachu, former journalist with BBC Njuguna Gitau, Beatrice Muthoni, Mururi Njuguna a veteran Mau Mau fighter, Harold Muthondu Karau of Mau Mau War Veteran Association Murang’a branch.

 Others honored were Duncan Kuria a national boxer and athletic Stephen Kamande 70 year old who  won Gold medals  in 2018 after he participated in a half marathon and 10 kilometres race in Spain.

 Handing them the state commendations, Murang’a County Commissioner Fredrick Ndunga urged them to continue serving the country  and educate the youth on the need to follow their steps.

“  President Uhuru Kenyatta  is satisfied with the work you have done for this country in modelling the youth,” said Ndunga.

During the mashujaa day celebrations, the President recognized 220 persons  whom he appreciated for lifting the flag of the country high.
