The Mountain Journal Crew in Gatanga
Mystery surrounding the disappearance of Covid 19 from a city hospital deepened with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Kenya Medical Dentist Board conducting investigations.
Vaccination of 1,000 people in Gatanga ward on Saturday sparked investigations that led by government agencies to establish how doses of Covid 19 vaccines were transported to Gathaini village in Murang’a, where they were administered.
Caught in the web is Edward Mureu who organized the vaccination exercise in efforts to save the elderly and people living with disabilities have access to the treasured vaccine. Mureu is Gatanga parliamentary aspirant who indicated to vie on UDA ticket.
In the follow up, the board ordered the closure of the Ruai Family Hospital based in Nairobi for allegedly diversion of the Covid 19 vaccines without approval.
The headteacher where the vaccination took place is also under investigations while a chief has been suspended for failure to reveal the happening.
Murang’a County Commissioner Mr Fredrick Ndunga warned the politicians against playing with the lives of the citizens.
“Investigations have been ordered and those who will be found to have been involved, action will be taken against them,” said Ndunga.
In a notice, the council’s CEO Dr Daniel Yumba ordered closure of the facility and appearance of the staff involved in the vaccination exercise.
The operating license was revoked by the council.
The hospital administration defended itself on the disappearance of 160 doses.
