Daggers are drawn by Kangema MP Muturi Kigano and Kanyenya ini MCA Jeremiah Kongo fighting over who should be credited over the mission to construct a modern market at Kanyenya ini market.

Kongo the area MCA insists he was the brainchild on modernising the market, a project that has been delayed  for decades, as the traders operate in fifth state.

This week, hell broke loose after MCA  during the introduction of the contractor on site was cornered by supporters of the MP led by his personal assistant Wangari wa Kibuthu.

Kongo insisted the project was his brain child as he told off the intruders who claimed since the project was funded by the national government  the launching should be conducted by the MP.

“ Am  the person who since 2019 have been lobbying for the Sh27 million project, the MP came to know about it much later. All along had involved the local community  and who have been in support,” said Kongo.

But the MP downplayed the issue saying he lobbied  for Kanyenya ini,  Rwathia  and Kihoya market to be modernized.

“ We are working to launch construction of the project soon in an event where PS from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure will be the chief guest,” said Kigano when he was reached for comments.

Insiders have revealed that  politics is playing at the best as there are handlers of the MP who are campaigning  to dislodge Kongo in the next year general election.

“ There is a general feeling that if Kongo is allowed to align himself with the multi million project which is in the heart of the ward it will be difficult  to wage war against him,” said  a resident of Kangema.
