Mission to speak in one voice kicks off

Leaders from
Mt Kenya region converged in Nyeri county where they supported Murang’a
Governor Mwangi wa Iria in denouncing the coronation of speaker Justin Muturi a
month ago.

 The leaders who included Governors  host Mutahi Kahiga( Nyeri) Martin Wambora(
Embu), Lee Kinyanjui( Nakuru),  Mumbi Waiguru(
Kirinyaga), Ndiritu Muriithi( Laikipia), and  Francis Kimemia(Nyandarua)  demonstrated the mountain unity,  with a view of support their own presidential
candidate in next year election.

 Also present was Agriculture Cabinet
Secretary Peter Munya who since last year has been crisscrossing the
region  urging for the locals  to unite as well as concentrating with profitable
agricultural practice.

 The leaders  made efforts to consolidate the regional nine million votes,  as they blocked Deputy President William Ruto chance of assuming Presidency after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

 They resolved to campaign in all parts in Mt Kenya
east and west  uniting the leaders and
the electorate to chart the way forward.

A week ago,  leaders drawn from  Kikuyu Council of Elders and Kiama Kima conducted a traditional ritual  to cleanse  Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga Shrine   where
a section of the elders crowned Muturi amid opposition.

 In the meeting, former transport principal
secretary Irungu Nyakera called on the leaders to prioritise agriculture value addition  engagements in the region.

He however
warned the locals  against electing
leaders whose only interest is their political advancement and install those who
care.

” Lets go the genuine leaders not those out to pursue their personal interests,” said Nyakera.
