Two health workers have been interdicted at
Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital following the alleged neglect of
patients under their care.
The management
of the facility interdicted the staff at the laboratory department where Halima
Hassan 58 died while waiting to be served after being referred by a clinician who was
examining her.
Health chief Officer Dr Donald Mogoi regretted the Monday
incident saying in depth investigations have been instituted.
“The management of the hospital acknowledges the
incident and two members of staff who were working in the laboratory
interdicted,” said Mogoi.
The chief
officer spoke after residents of Nanyuki demonstrated calling on Governor Ndiritu Muriithi to restore the dignity of the health facility
by disciplining the rogue health workers.
The protest
was accelerated following claims that
Jane Njoki died at the same facility following neglect by the members of
staff attending a birthday party for
their colleague in one of the ward.
