Iria administration ranked the best by Controller of Budget

Murang’a
county ranked the best in the utilization of development money at 426.7 million
out of the Sh3.1billion that had been allocated.

In the runners up was Kisumu and Narok the
third after spending 393.7 million and 164.3 million respectively.

In the period between July and September in the
financial year 2020/2021,the Controller of Budget Dr Margaret Nyakango, other 25 counties
spent a total of 2.3billion out of the allocation of Sh159.3 billion.

Other 22 counties registered nil expenditure
in development over what was blamed on delay by the national treasury in the release
of funds to the counties.

The
stalement in the Senate has also been blamed in the delay to remit to resources.

The
report reflected an overall drop in the expenditure as compared to the same
duration in financial year 2019/2020.

The
controller of budget blamed the poor
relationship between the county governments and the assemblies to have delayed
the release of the funds to facilitate development.

 Counties of
Wajir, Kitui, Mandera lagged behind in the utilization of the
development kitty due lack of approval
of the budgets by the county assemblies.
