PSV flout regulations at your own peril, warns Kagwe

Public Service
Vehicles (PSV) that will be found flouting Covid 19 protocols during the
festive seasons will be detained.

Health Cabinet
Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the confiscation of the vehicles will be one of the
tough measures that the government will impose to stop the spread of the
disease.

Speaking at Kenol
market during the official opening of Santa More Specialised Surgical Hospital,
Kagwe said the detained vehicles will be returned to their owners after the
festive season.

“We cannot allow a few
individuals to play about with lives of Kenyans, tough action must be taken
against them,” said the CS.

Murang’a county
government officials snubbed the function.

The government is aware that many of the
PSVs  have flouted the regulations with
overloading of passengers.

“ Interior and
National Coordination  and Transport CSs
Dr Fred Matiang’I and James Macharia are aware of the tricks being used by the
PSVs  to flout the regulations,”
said  Kagwe.

He appealed to striking health workers to
adhere to the court order and they resume duty, to support the fight against the
disease.

“I urge you to return
to work the soonest possible as the court-ordered as the government and unions
should go for dialogue,” said the CS.

He warned that the health workers who will
fail to report back to work risk losing their jobs.

In the Covid 19
updates, he said out of the 5,768 samples collected 356 turned positive.

“Another 852 patients are in hospitals and 49 placed in the
ICUs, as 11 succumbed,” said Mutahi.

Thirty-seven patients are under supplementary oxygen. The Mountain Journal news lines are
