Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro
has expressed displeasure over the proposed creation of additional constituencies as contained
in the BBI report.
The MP said there was need to enhance the
existing constituencies through doubling of the CDF allocations, to match with
the population.
Speaking in various parts of his constituency
during distribution of Bursary to first year students at the universities,
Nyoro said it will be unproductive to create more areas of representation instead
of channeling the resources through the existing constituencies.
“It Is my honest
opinion that there is no need to deliberate on additional areas of representations
when the country is facing financial constrains,” said Nyoro.
He affirmed that the
present state of economy could not afford to pay more MPs as proposed in the
BBI report.
“To
maintain an MP for an year the government has to factor a budget of Sh50million.
Kiharu
is among the constituencies earmarked to get an additional MP but am for the view
to have the idea shelved, and resources diverted to programmes among them
education bursaries,” he said.
