COVID 19: You risk being put in cells

 

Central Kenya is a No Go Zone for those without face masks.

Hundreds of people have been arrested
by security agents due to lack of wearing the masks, following an order by
President Uhuru Kenyatta a week ago, to help stop the spread of Covid 19.

The disease has claimed more than
1,000 people with hundreds reported as new infections daily. 

The police are also flushing out passengers found without the masks while travelling in public service vehicles. 

In  
the counties of Murang’a, Kiambu, Laikipia and Nyeri the police backed
by chiefs are patrolling streets arresting those walking without the masks.

Also targeted are those not wearing
the masks properly, with police cells reported full.

In Murang’a Town, Deputy County
Commissioner Ms Virginia Githumbi is leading a team patrolling arresting the
defaulters.

Over 50 people have been arrested for
contravening the  Covid 19 protocols.

“ The 
government order on  the protocols
must be respected to help stop the spread of the disease that has put citizens life
at risk,” said Githumbi.

 In Kangema town,
Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Muli said six persons have been arrested.
