The Editors eye on the second wave of Covid 19

 

In the past, one month surge of Covid 19 infections have been
witnessed, as Kenyans ignored the Ministry of Health protocols.

In the past week, Intensive Care Units (ICU) were
reported full in the hospitals in major towns, an indication of the
surge.

In the last 24 hours the country reported 1,395 new infections, with 15 deaths. The County Government Chiefs 

In the country, the infection figure is at 55,192 with 4,495 patients under home-based care. Towns under watch are Nairobi, Nakuru, Kakamega and Mombasa.

 President Uhuru
Kenyatta addressing Health Sector Intergovernmental Forum raised concerns over
the increased infection rate, as he pleaded with Kenyans to observe the
protocols.

In Kakamega police have started a crackdown on people not observing the protocol which should be extended countrywide.

 Following the
increased infection, Kenyans are likely to suffer another lockdown with a curfew
starting at 7 pm and end at 5 am. 

In the past two months, the numbers of infections rose after the curfew time was extended
to 11 pm ending at 4 am.

The infection rates have been traced following increased parties,
carelessness, and congestion among other factors.

 The politicians are
to blame for organizing political rallies with little or no information
regarding to safety measures to be employed to end the infection.
