Tea growers: Murang’a gets the lions share in bonus allocation

 

Tea growers in
Central Kenya will at the end of the week take home Sh17,931 billion from
delivery of their green leaf.

 Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has
released Sh27.65 billion to 600,000 growers across the tea growing belt for
their production of green leaf between July last year and June.

 In the sharing formulae, Tharaka Nithi County growers
got the least allocation of Sh881 million 
and Murang’a  county set to get
the highest of  share of Sh9.8 billion.

Murang’a has 10
tea factories names, Ngeere, Njunu, Nduti, Makomboki, Ikumbi, Gacharage,
Githambo, Kanyenya ini, Gatunguru and Kiru.

 KTDA Zone two and three Board Members Eng
Erastus Gakuya and Francis Macharia said the farmers  will get their share of the annual bonus together
with October delivery of green leaf.

They said
Murang’a will continue getting the largest share owing to farmers dedication in
their work.

 In the tabulations from KTDA Embu county
growers will take home Sh 3 billion, Kiambu 4.92 billion, Kirinyaga Sh 5.39
billion.

The farmers in Meru to get  Sh 5.79 billion, Nyeri Sh3.54 and Tharaka-Nithi
Sh881 million.
