A month after the demise of Gaturi MCA Cryus Kiiru aka
Mbembe, Jubillee Party has invited interested candidates to face a nomination
process. The late MCA
It is expected that
Governor Mwangi wa Iria led Civic Renewal Party (CRP) will front a candidate in
the crucial By-Election, which is the doorstep to the Murang’a County Government
headquarters.
Kiiru was elected an
independent candidate, with a political duel in Murang’ an expected between the factions
allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The Deputy President had visited Gaturi ward once when he graced Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro homecoming party at Gaturi grounds.
The late Kiiru in the last election floored Jubilee Party
Candidate Ms Rose Mary Wakuthie Njine.
Possible candidates for the seat are Wakuthie, Esther Kamau,
and Nelson Kenda.

Kamau is a member of
Kiharu NG CDF led by MP Ndindi Nyoro an ally of the deputy president. Esther Kamau
Gaturi is the home place of Kiharu MP who hail from
Gaitheri village same with the late Kiiru.
Analysts says it will be a duel with Governor Mwangi wa
Iria making sure that the slot will go to a candidate who will be preferred by
President Kenyatta.
Gaturi Ward in Kiharu constituency is the cradle
of the Gikuyu community at Gakuyu village.
