An extra ordinary meeting has been called at the Council of
Governors this morning to deliberate in the manner at which senate has ordered
for arrest of its vice chairman Mwangi wa Iria after he defied to appear before it last month.
The virtual meeting slated
for 10 am has been called a few hours after Clerk at Senate Mr J.M
Nyengenye wrote to Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai seeking for
arrest of the Murang’a Governor for
defying summons.
Council Chairman Wycliff Oparanya outlined
agenda for the meeting as conduct of
senate public accounts committee in relation to a letter addressed to Iria.
Earlier, Clerk at Senate
Mr Nyengenye wrote to the police boss informing him that Iria failed to honour
the invitation of the committee seeking for his arrest and produce him before
the committee on September 10 at 10am.
Formulae will also be discussed”, read part of the letter.
The issue of revenue allocation comes when the counties are
financially starved following differences in the Senate 12 man Adoc committee on
the disbursement of the finances to the counties.
The committee is yet to come up with a solution that will end the
stalement on the formulae, that would be used on the allocation between the land mass or the population.
