Construction
of Kenol- Karatina- Marwa a dual carriage highway will be completed in June
next year.

Transport
and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said the project funded by
African Development Bank is set to be completed in June next year and commissioned
by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The project was designed to be completed in
2023, but the contractors are working round the clock to take only two years, and
the Trauma hospital will be constructed in the Makutano area along the 84 kilometers
stretch.

Macharia
spoke when he inspected the multi-billions project cutting across the counties
of Murang’a, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri designed to improve connectivity with
Northern parts of Kenya.

“Northern Corridor project funded by the World Bank
will see pavements along the highway improved, following a plea by the locals,”
said the CS, adding that the project is implemented by Kenyan National Highways
Authority (KeNHA).

The government, he said
has been keen on improving road networks to help in the transportation of
goods.
