Mission to scout for the next
Murang’a Governor has received a boost with youth leaders endorsing MP Maitu Sabina
Chege for the position.
In a letter to the MP 350 students from
Gatanga, Kandara, Kigumo, Maragua, Kiharu, Kangema, and Mathioya informing her
of their position regarding the best candidate for the position.
Under the Murang’a county youth
forum, the young brought to the attention that they requested her to declare
interest for the governorship slot come 2022.
Mama county, they told her they have watched
her closely and have a feeling that you are the best placed to lead our county
and take it to another level.
“We do so in the full realization
of your massive ground network and unequivocal service delivery to the people despite
your docket having very little resources compared to your service delivery. To
be precise, you are the only county politician with the touch on the ground,”
part of the petition to the MP.
They said the MP is equal to none as she has
sponsored them to pursue their secondary education arguing that the inauguration
of Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls High School under her guidance gave hope to
hundreds of young persons.
The young also celebrated Chege’s support to women
empowerment programme through a revolving fund with approximate Sh100 million
in circulation from the Sh8 million seed.
Our mothers are doing horticulture, poultry among other businesses,
and assisted in giving direction in the community set up.
There are several candidates moving around the county and yet to openly declare interest in the Governorship after Mwangi wa Iria ventures into national politics through Usawa Kwa Wote Party.
