Four traffic police from Murang’a  who processed the scene of an accident where former  Nyeri Governor  the late Wahome Gakuru  was involved in an accident failed to appear at the scene.

Absence of John Wanami ,Martin Simiyu, Francis Kisavi and John Kivuva  attached at Makuyu police station forced the trial magistrate Wendy Kagendo  to issue a warrant of arrest.

The court held a session at the Makenji area along Kenol- Thika road where Gakuru vehicle was involved in an accident.

Also summoned to appear in court for interrogation are Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga  over his utterance  that he had warned the late against using the vehicle that was involved in the accident due to its mechanical state.

Others summoned are Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, County Secretary Benjamin Gachichio and County Government Chief of Staff Paul Wambugu.

Court Prosecutor Ken Magoma informed the court that the traffic officers were nowhere to be seen, despite having been informed of the visit at the scene of the accident.

“ I applied  for a warrant of arrest against the four police men after he failed to get them to help shed light on how the accident occurred,” said Magoma after he could not trace the four.

Issuing the warrant of arrest, the magistrate regretted that they had made the court waste its precious time and waste of public resources.

“ It is unfortunate that the four policemen have led to wastage of public funds,” said the Magistrate.
