Nanyuki high school students returned to their institution on Friday after they were collected by their parents following a mysterious fire that erupted in one of the dormitories.
As they resumed to complete the remaining part of the second term, the students were questioned, with the administration seeking more information on who was responsible and the motive.
The parents demanded to know what transpired as the school management delayed to pass the information as the majority say they got the information pertaining to the fire causing destruction in part of the dormitory from social media.
The school Chief Principal Solomon Koech has declined to reply to the questions from the media following the claims that chaos that reigned the institution followed students’ protest after a failed Christian Union Weekend Challenge that the members raised more than Sh 150,000 to facilitate.
The amount raised by the students to facilitate the inviting of the guest speaker cum preacher of the day of their choice, but they rejected the one who introduced to them through murmuring.
Insiders revealed that after students demanded answers on transparent use of their collection.
A parent who declined to be named over fear of victimisation of her son said “ We want to know what happened as the students have told parents their version but the school has not spoken.”
The Ministry of Education, they said, should conduct its own investigations and declare their findings in public if they are interested in maintaining the status of the national school.
