Leaders in Embu assembled at St Boniface Mugui Senior School where they raised funds to support the transformation of the school after years of neglect.
The school located in Runyenye’s Constituency, will undertake a total rehabilitation owing to the interventions made by a committee chaired by KTDA Holding Chairman Enos Njeru.
The school was singled out as where the children of the tea pickers in the locality go to school thus needs to be improved for their well being.
The testimony by Njeru of how his parents were not able to enroll him at Kamama secondary school landed him at Mugui secondary school as he continued logging firewood from the Mt Kenya forest to help in buying his school uniform and other necessities.
The Chief Guest also the The Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot lauded the efforts made by Njeru to come back to his former schools and assembly friends in the giving back to the community.
“ I am delighted by the stories that I heard from Njeru and from them I learned why he has thousands of friends and I can see the majority of them in this fundraiser,” said Kericho senator.
In the fundraiser, President William Ruto gave Sh 5 million from the National Infrastructure Fund, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki Sh 2 million, Cheruiyot Sh 1 million, Friends of the school through Enos Njeru the school patron donated more than Sh 2 million. The parents with students at the St Boniface Mugui Secondary School gave Sh 1.2 million, among other donations
The school board of management said the school was seeking the support to improve their CBE education programme, science laboratories, wood work stores, and fencing.
