 The Usawa Kwa Wote Leader
Mwangi wa Iria has told off Mt Kenya Foundation over vetting of the
Presidential candidates saying the exercise is unconstitutional.

 Iria, a second term Governor,
said the foundation chaired by Dr Peter Munga was biased in the vetting
process, as it has been conducting the ‘interviews’ disrespect and misleading
the mountain population.

Speaking during awarding scholarship
to 3,000 students at the General Ihura stadium in Murang’a,  Iria who is a
presidential candidate accused Munga over missing the point  adding that if
called he will not attend.

Some of the members of the
MTF  are Munga, deputized by Mzee Titus Ibiu, Michael Waweru formerly of KRA, former  Dagoretti MP
Dennis Waweru,  and businessman George Muhoho,

“The foundation is not
accredited by the constitution to be part of the electoral process. What they
are doing is an exercise in futility. The politicians  have they ways of
conducting their campaigns, Raila Odinga has its own, the same to  the
deputy president William Ruto,”said Iria.

He recounted how in 2013 and
2017 general election  defeated a candidate allegedly bankrolled  by
Munga , as he knew how to conduct his campaigns.

“Days of wazee locked in
boardrooms inviting political leaders for interviews are long gone. This an art
of political  conmanship which at this time and age will not be
entertained,” said Iria.

But Munga said the forum was not
biased as alleged but presidential candidates  are invited by the
members  not him. In the panel I am not alone, there are others who after
they analyze a candidate before inviting them through the laid parameters,
to ensure there is no flavourism”said Munga.

 The Safari Park interview have
attracted ODM leader Raila Odinga and members of OKA who included Baringo
senator Gedion Moi,  Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi of
Amani National Congress, and Moses Watengula of Ford Kenya.

MFK
was formed  in 2016 to transform the image of Central Kenya by fighting
illicit brew through the ‘Epuka Ulevi’ (avoid alcoholism) campaign and
mobilising locals to register as voters.
