The Mountain is free to produce a candidate for the Presidecy

There is no law that bar a person from the mountain from aspiring for the Presidency after President Uhuru Kenyatta complete his term, as it is peddled by selfish leaders.

The National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi   the purported theory is a creation of certain persons, whose interest is to support others, but lacks backing in the law.

He told those who have been implying that the region should not produce a presidential candidate in the next general election, saying all interested persons are free to contest.

“Let no one mislead Kenyans that the mountain cannot produce the next president because no one deserves the top seat more than others” he said.

The speaker told the congregation at St Luke Kongu ini ACK Church in Murang’a that the residents  in the region should unite behind a leader who will look at their interests.

This time round, he said,  the mountain  should be extremely careful  not to land in the wrong hands that will plunge the region into chaos.

He at the same time made a scathing attack  on ODM Presidential hopeful Raila Odinga’s promise to offer Sh6,000 to the jobless persons  once he gets elected.

“ The offer is not a solution to ending poverty as the Mt Kenya residents don’t believe in being given money for free, tell them the truth that even that money will be from taxes,” said the speaker.

He observed that Kenyans need sound economic policies rather than a culture of handouts which would create poverty rather than eradicate it.

He spoke when five Murang’a MPs Peter Kimari, Ngugi Nduati, Mary Wamaua, Muturi Kigano and Wangari Mwaniki endorsed former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth to be the running mate  to the ODM leader in the next general election.
