In four years, Murang’a county government has managed to ensure water was accessible in the villages, more than decades ago.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata in his address to the county assembly outlined that the programme to connect more villages with the commodity was ongoing.
He further explained that his administration has constructed nor renovated over 500 newly ECDE classrooms providing the youth with a conducive environment.
“However, there are still around 50 or so ECDEs yet to be attended to,” said the Governor.
Areas of success include the school feeding program that ensures pupils in the ECDE centres remain in school for learning. The Uji program positively impacts 40,000 learners in our public ECDEs

In food security, Kang’ata outlined that his administration has registered 86,000 farmers through the Inua Mkulima programme receiving certified maize seeds and planting fertilizer annually.
“In addition, 23,000 milk and mango farmers receive quarterly subsidy support of ksh2,400 each,” he added..
On the recurrent expenditure, the county government he said spends Sh 417 million every month on salaries for all county employees, with the County Executive being allocated Sh 350 million.
“ The County Assembly gets Sh 67 million. The county normally receives from the Exchequer an average of Sh 640 million on a monthly basis,” he said.
In matters concerning health, appropriately 160,000 people drawn from .40,000 poor families access treatment through the Kang’atacare programme.
“However, under the Telemedicine programme 70,556 virtual consultations in the year 2025, and 26,210 consultations in the year 2026,” he said.
