Race to deputise President William Ruto has kicked off with Kirinyaga Governor Annie Waiguru embarking on tours to popularise development activities initiated by Kenya Kwanza administration.
Waiguru said she will mobilise votes to support Ruto’s re-election in the next year’s General Election citing the region would benefit more and assist to meet the two thirds gender balance.
Speaking at Kiria ini market in Mathioya, Murang’a accompanied by MPs host Dr Edwin Mugo, Gachoki Gitare(Kirinyaga Central), and Senator Veronica Maina, Wairugu said it will be an uphill task to vote out a sitting President.
“It’s not easy to remove a sitting President in power and I fear for this region to be in a political cold in the next regime, ” Waiguru said.
“I have all the requirements to deputise Ruto in his second term thus all Kenya must support his bid as Kenya has a great future to achieve major developments,” said the Kirinyaga Governor in her second term.

Wairugu seeks for the deputy president position, other governors’ in their second term including Mutahi Kahiga and Joshua Irungu of Nyeri and Laikipia respectively eye for the senatorial positions.
“President Ruto’s administration has achieved significant development among them the multi billion shillings of the Rironi- Mau Summit road, “ said Waiguru.
He cited that Mt Kenya region had the highest representation in the government with Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries among others in the Kenya Kwanza administration thus a need to accord Ruto a second term.

“ The Mountain region must remain on the National decision table as we formed the government and therefore we cannot leave it and start over again,” she said.
Mugo endorsed Waiguru for the DP position in the next General election, saying she has a sound development record thus ripe to join the national politics.
The senator said it was ripe for a woman leader from the central region to occupy the national position.
In the forum, Waiguru distributed Sh 50,000 to each of the 110 women groups for business start ups and including foodstuffs, maize flour and rice donations for Easter fete.
