Fear is looming in Kiambu after a section of the MCAs’ have  risen daring to  initiate a process to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

The members threatened to impeach Dr  Wamatangi if he fails to urgently address the  deteriorating health crisis in Kiambu County.

The MCAs’ led by Kamau Thumbi (Muguga) and Susan Mburu, said if was a pity that the Governor has continued failed to resolve the health issues, through engaging with the health workers.

The move by the MCAs’ follows the mounting pressure from health workers  and Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), who have held demonstrations demanding that the county government resolve an ongoing strike and severe staffing shortages that have crippled health services.

They declared war on the executive saying they will not continue entertaining mediocre plays as they watch children succumbing  due to lack of treatment.

They accused the governor  for failing to engage health workers and union officials in meaningful dialogue to end the crisis.

“Avoidable deaths, including those of children and newborns, have occurred due to the prolonged breakdown of services, insisting that the governor has failed the people of Kiambu,” said Kamau.

Governor Wamatangi dismissed the claims, terming them politically instigated debate, and maintained that his administration is taking deliberate steps to strengthen healthcare services across the county.

Following the unending health workers strike, the sick was rushed to health facilities in Murang’a County and Kenyatta National Hospital.
