A delegation from the counties of Kitui, Machakos and Makueni toured projects initiated by Murang’a County Government that won praise over the right utilisation of resources.
The team led by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua included the MCAs’ , Deputy Minority Leader Senate visited Maragi ECDE, Muriranjas TeleMedicine hub,Mukuyu Social Hall, Mukuyu dispensary, Sabasaba Smart City Programme and Kenneth Matiba Hospital.

Addressing the press, Wambua a former journalist lauded efforts made by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata for initiating development programmes that have uplifted the living standards of the residents.
“ I am delighted that Murang’a has initiated projects through the wishes of the residents, where the counties should tour for a benchmarking,” said Wambua.

Kang’ata said the counties are facing it rough following the delay by the office of the controller of budget delay to remit resources.
“ The counties are financially starved and require funding urgently with a leaf to ensure the to save the services from stalling,” said the governor adding that the students whose fees is paid through the bursaries were at home due to lack of fees.
The hospitals are in need of drugs and other needs, and there are no resources to procure the necessities, he observed.

On the contentious e procurement system, Kang’ata said he was not opposed to it but it should be implemented to ensure all the fears are addressed.
Wambua decried the forced implementation of the e procurement saying the system required scrutiny by the users to ensure it will be effective.
“ We witnessed that happened to SHA after the system was rushed to the utilisation, from the defunct NHIF,” said Wambua.
