Murang’a
has emerged as the first county in Mt Kenya region to inaugurate
its executive committee members.
The
10 executive members took an oath of office at the county chamber presided over
by Murang’a Chief Magistrate Mr Peter Ndwiga.
The
executives are Dr Kamau Kiringai (agriculture), Kimani Mugo(
Trade), Dr Winfred Njeri( lands), Prof Kiarie Mwaura( Finance), Dr
Fredrick Mbugua( Health).
Others
were Pius Mcharia( Roads, and infrastructure),
James
Gatuna( ICT and Public Administration), Mary Magochi( Water), Noah Gachucha(
Youth), Faith Njoroge( Education).
In
their acceptance speech, the officials appointed by Governor Irungu Kang’ata
said they will dedicate themselves to serve the one million plus residents.
Kang’ata
said the appointment of the CEC will support implementation of his visions that
include providing porridge to the ECDE learners after completion of a pilot
programme.
“
I had been restricted from championing many of the programmes as I did not have
the CECs. With support of the County Assembly the executive is determined to
revamp the county as we promised during the campaigns,’ said the Governor.
He said once the supplementary budget is passed at the assembly planned development will be implemented.
Assembly
Speaker Johnson Muriu said the MCAs will play their oversight role for
the interest of ensuring the devolved functions are operational.
“Ninety-five
percent of the MCAs are graduates and it will be easy to ensure there is
effective delivery of service to the residents in the wards,” said Mukuha.
Others
present were Majority leader Francis Kibe Wasarry(Ithuru), his deputy Liz
Muthoni Mbugua (Kinyona) and deputy speaker Gachui Mungai( Kihumbu ini).
