Illicit brews maker exposed in Kagaa village, Murang’a

Shock gripped Kagaa village, Murang’a after a rental house was discovered converted to a brewery with poisonous liquor confiscated.

During the raid conducted by police from Kenol market, the brewer and his employees fled leaving behind products in crates.

There was a box full of assorted bottle tops  with local administrators hinting that the product was being transported to Kikuyu in Kiambu county among other areas.

Counterfeit brands of Taifa and Diamond were netted l’ without KRA and KEBs certification stickers, as the procedure demand.

 Neighbours in the Mithi  ini area watched from a distance as the police  conducted a search in the house  during the 3 pm incident.

The raid led by Kimorori Assistant County Commissioner Julius Kambi the consignment was transported to Kenol police station with Murang’a South Police Commander Alexander Shikondi lauding the team over the successful mission.

Shikondi said the residents tipped the police over the suspicious activities in the rental house before they planned the raid.

 He said the raid was among strategies set by the sub county security committee to flush out criminal elements from their hideouts.

“ The police are looking  for the owner of the house  to help  in the investigations. Samples of the products  will be taken to Government Chemists  for analysis as the procedure demands,” said Mr Shikondi.

 There were 45 empty crates, two jerricans of unknown chemical, two sieves, bow and arrows among the  items  taken by police.

  The raid followed Murang’a leaders’ outcry during the Jamhuri day  with calls  to eradicate  the illicit brews dens in the villages in efforts to tame increased alcoholism.
